Mourine M Bennett

Bossier City, LA – Services for Mourine M. Bennett, 87 will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Calvin Hubbard officiating. The family will be receiving visitors from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Mourine was born on December 1, 1934 in Rockingham County, Reidsville, North Carolina and went to be with the Lord on January 14, 2022 in Bossier City, LA. She was a member of The International Order of the Rainbow Girls, Daughters of the Nile, Ladies Oriental Shrine and an active member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Barksdale Baptist Church. Mourine retired from the Shreveport Health Unit.

Mourine enjoyed working in her flower beds and making flower arraignments, bows, and wreaths. In her spare time, she also liked to watch NASCAR and wrestling.

Mourine is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Bessie Harrell. Her husband Marvin Edward Bennett, Sr., granddaughter Tracy Smith. Sisters, Juanita Williams, Polly Winfree, Virginia Bradley, Barbara Hadley. Brothers – Thomas Harrell, Jr. and Wilfred “Wimp” Harrell. Son in law Kenneth Dawson and Thomas Smith.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister Carolyn Mayton, her children Carlene Dawson, Marvin Bennett, Jr., and wife Nancy, Carol Smith, and Linda Meservey. Grandchildren, Travis Smith, Tiffany Smith, Kenneth Dawson II, Katie Meservey, Samantha Meservey, and Catherine Ross. Great Grandchildren Zoey Ann Nowatzke and Colt Meservey.

Active pallbearers will be Travis Smith, Kenneth Dawson II, Anthony Graves, Dustin Mock, Marvin Bennett, Jr, and Mike Tasche.
