George John Andersen

It is with great sadness that the family of George J. Andersen Jr. announces his passing after a brief illness, on Friday, Dec 29, 2017, at the age of 85 years. George will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Jan and his children, Vivian (Norm) Schafler, John (Kristen), daughter in law Melvianne, Bob (Coe), and Linda (Jim) Rudolf. George will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. George was predeceased by his son Michael.George served in the Navy during the Korean War. He graduated from Oklahoma University in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. He work 30 years as an Electrical Engineer for Cal Trans. After that George was co-owner of a flower shop for 11 years. In his later years he was very active in volunteering. He contributed 21 years of volunteering at the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve. He also taught countless AARP Safe Driving classes, and volunteered at Diamond Valley Lake Metropolitan Water District Education Center, just to name a few of George's many community involvements. A family graveside service to celebrate George's life was held at Riverside National Cemetery Jan 10, 2018. Memorial donation can be made to Santa Rosa Plateau Foundation. SRPF.org
