Joyce Elaine Atencio was surrounded by family when she entered eternity on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the age of 68 years. She entered life Monday, August 30, 1943 in Long Beach, California, the daughter of the late Clarence Herncane and the late Phyllis Herncane. She has been a resident of Wildomar for the past 27 years.
Joyce worked as a supervisor in the publications division of General Telephone for more than 30 years. Following retirement she moved with her husband, David, to Wildomar. It didn't take many months before she was anxious to be working again. She began "helping" as a part-time bookkeeper in one of the local Albertson's stores. Soon that part-time assignment turned into full-time and eventually she was responsible for all of the accounting needs in a store of her own. She and David still found time to RV and trail riding and she kept a garden at home.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband, David; son, Danny Atencio; 2 daughters, Tina Hanland and her husband, Tim; Tammy Austin and her husband, Vaughn; 1 brother, Mel Herncane; 1 sister, Darlene Linder; 8 grandchildren, Shawna, Danny Jr, and Summer Atencio, Ricky and Michael Riddle, Zachary, Jennifer and Bo Austin; 10 great-grandchildren, Skyler, Hailey, Hannah and Holly Riddle, McKenna, Ian and Ty Atencio, Cheyenne Shakter, Makayla and Colby Austin.
