Marilynn Rose Dodd of Hemet, California passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the grand age of 98. Born in Highland Park, California on April 4, 1925 to a diamond salesman Edward Harris and a Beverly Hills socialite/charity fundraiser, Sarah Harris (née Jonesi), Lynn grew up in Los Angeles's high society of the day and led a very colorful life. She modeled for Saks Fifth Avenue as a teenager and worked as a “script girl” for Paramount Studios where she helped decide which screenplays would be chosen for production. While attending college at UCLA, she met and married her first husband Morton Maron, with whom she had 4 children. After spending many years raising her lovely family, Lynn found her way into a career in market research. She was sought after for her skills in arranging the perfect sample groups as well as her honesty and integrity. She eventually ran her own market research company which she kept up well into her 80s. Lynn was an avid bridge player and crossword enthusiast. She loved decorating her home for every holiday and hosted numerous celebrations with friends and family where she’d always make the finest of spreads (including her famous Jell-O mold!). She was a preeminent hostess in all regards and truly the life of the party. She was a great lover of music, especially jazz, and hosted many prominent jazz musicians at her home over the years. She was the best storyteller, a prolific cook, and the most kind and generous soul one could hope to meet. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her gracious spirit. Marilynn was predeceased by her husband Donald Dodd, son Bruce Maron, and daughters Jill Allen and Cathy Maron Kiaha. She is survived by her daughter Jodi Galli, granddaughter Nicole Galli, son-in-law Terry Allen, and countless close friends who became family to her throughout the years. Because we can’t send this amazing lady off without a party, a celebration of life will be held TBD. In the meantime, to honor Lynn’s memory, please do something kind for someone, donate to a charity of your choosing, and try to remember “don’t sweat the small stuff”.
