William “Bill” Doughty, of Hemet, CA passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 of complications from heart surgery. Bill was born on Tuesday, May 10, 1938 to Donald and Elizabeth Doughty in Alhambra, CA. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Anne Doughty; his children, Don Doughty of Fontana, Curtis Doughty of Corona, Debbie Cocoran of Murrieta, Teresa (Rex) Adrian of Irving, TX, and Richie (Kim) Bender of Ramona; grandchildren, DJ, Heather, Chelsey, Bobby, Alec, and Brie; great grandchildren, Luke, Aubrie, Logan, Tristan, Maddyn, and Kase; sisters, Barbara Bierman, Carol Echandi, and Melba Merdock; brother-in-law, Larry (Kathy) Trowell of The Colony, TX; nieces and nephews, Kenny, Kathy, Elizabeth, Daniel, Jerry, Anna, Aaron, Randy, and Rusty; great nieces and nephews, Zach, Meghan, Blaise, Nick, Jake, and Eric and many special friends. Bill retired from Ameron Steel in 1976 in CA and then moved to Dallas, TX with his wife Anne, where he began his journey into ownership of an auto paint and body shop. The couple resided in Texas for 32 years before returning to California in 2008 to retire. Bill loved showing classic street rods (that he owned), involved in dirt track auto racing, fishing with the grand kids, cooking on his many BBQ master pieces, and building anything you could think of in his garage.
The family will be receiving guests on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at The Hemet Valley Christian Church 330 South Franklin Street Hemet, CA 92543 with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm. Bill touched many lives and will be truly missed by all those who were honored to know him and who loved him.
