Edgar Eugene Box, age 94, of Henderson, Nevada, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. He was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on August 27, 1927 to Louis and Hilda Box. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Rocky Ford, Colorado where he grew up and attended school. Ed was affectionately called "Tune" by his family after his father nicknamed him Tuney.
Edgar has always been highly patriotic and enjoyed serving the country that he loved. During World War II Ed was too young to serve in the military so he ran away from home and joined the Merchant Marines where he served in the Pacific delivering munitions and supplies. His ship was parked a short distance from the Battleship, Missouri during the signing of the Armistice in Tokyo Bay. When he came of age Edgar joined the U.S. Army and served in Japan during the U.S. occupation.
Edgar married Edith Barbee on November 20, 1953. To their marriage, two sons were born, Edgar II and Louis Allen. Ed worked as a truck driver, construction, and as a Security Guard.
Edgar was preceded in death by parents, two sons, and 5 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Edith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Edgar will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Palm Boulder Highway Cemetery, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.
