One scripture comes to my mind when I remember Joaquin, and that’s Proverbs 17:17: “A true friend shows love at all times and is a brother who is born for times of distress”. Yes, Joaquin would take his shirt off his back for anyone in need! I was only one of many that benefit from the generosity of Joaquin and his family. When my family was going thru difficult times Joaquin was there and open his home for us. Joaquin was a true friend!
I will never forget his willingness to fly to Puerto Rico and share in one of the happiest days of our lives, our wedding day thirty years ago. Yolanda was very grateful to be the recipient of such kind act on our special day. We never forgot all he did to help us start our new life on our returned to New Jersey. There are just too many things to say about Joaquin!
His loyalty to Jehovah was another outstanding quality! No matter what storm came his way, and how many times he stumble he would get right up and continue the fight. Yes, he truly loved Jehovah!
My heart goes out to Miriam an outstanding wife and the love of his life, as well as to Maria, Jesse & Quino and the grandchildren.
Let’s all look forward to the day that we can welcome Joaquin back (Ps 37:38).

Wow so much to say , he was more than just my spiritual brother, he was one of so many that took me as his daughter. One of my heart felt stories with Joaquin was before my wedding he was so sure I was going to pick him to walk me down the aisle and of course his name was in my list but thanks to Jehovah, He put so many father figure brothers in my life that the other brothers also thought I was going to pick them to walking me down the aisle so it put me under a lot of pressure because I truly loved them all the same way. So two days before my wedding I asked brother Roth that even though he was going to give my talk at the wedding can he also walk me down the aisle because I was a very fortunate young girl to have more than one dad and I didn’t have the heart to pick one and leave the other one out and with tears in his eyes he said it would be an honor . So I called Joaquin and the other brothers and gave them all a special assignment in my wedding and Joaquin was so happy that we included him to do something at the wedding even though he wasn’t walking me down the aisle . I will truly be grateful for his love towards me and my family and for always guiding me in the right path. We will truly miss him but soon we will be able to see him and enjoy his company once again . Here’s a picture at my baby shower .

Joaquin was a father to many of us in our youth. When I first moved from NY to Newark in 1988, Joaquin helped me by providing me a small apartment in his house. He also help my mother in law to learn about Jehovah, and also helped my husband. He was very caring and gave his all to the congregation and all the brothers and sisters. We truly will look forward to see him in paradise together with all those who loved him. We will never forget about him because he made sure to made footprints in our hearts. We will see you again. I have many memories of my uncle Joaquin. I would love to see Joaquin dance with Miriam in the parties. But my special memory is the day he married Juan Luis and me 28 years ago. I remember when we told him that we wanted him to marry us. He got so happy. I think he was shocked. Ironic that he and my dad suffered the same horrible disease. But how awesome it will be the day we will see them awake in the resurrection in the New World.
