I’m now 66 and I remember vividly all my trips to get shoes. When my niece decided to start dance, I wanted no part of someone coming to the studio to sell shoes. There was only one place I trusted!! We went every year until the store finally closed. What a wonderful part of the community lost but never forgotten.

Some of my fondest childhood memories were going to Angelo's to get new shoes. And of course the best part was getting a toy out of the treasure chest. What an impact he made and such a legacy he leaves behind with so many people in Catawba county. His memory will surely live on.

Mr. Angelo was such a wonderful man! Like so many others my childhood memories are full of the times my family and I would go to Angelo’s Shoes. I loved when he would be the one to fit me for shoes. He even stayed past closing hours several times to make me insoles for my shoes! He will be greatly missed!

I, like so many was raised being fitted for shoes by Mr. Emanuel. But my life was directly impacted by him. Not only was I a child hood customer, I grew up to be an employee. He was my first boss.
I worked at Angelo's part-time through high school, community college, and up until my first child was born.
There are many memories. Mr and Mrs Emanuel were always very good to me. The memory I want to share is the baby shower they gave me at work. I received many nice gifts from my friends, a few I still have. The gift that the Emanuels gave provided a very nice crib mattress for my new baby, his siblings, and my nieces and nephew. One nice gesture impacted many young lives. It seems like yesterday but that was 37 years ago.
I am blessed to have had them in my life. I hope all the memories shared will warm the hearts of his grandchildren and great grandchildren as they grow and remember this very special man.

Mr Emanuel went to church with me at Christ Lutheran all my life growing up and fitted my children with shoes...We have missed having someone as good as he was to fit children's shoes. I saw him several times at the Hickory Post Office where I work before his daughter had to move him closer to her. Thinking of your family during this time of loss.

He always gave great customer service, wish we still had that today. I also worked w/ him in therapy when he was at Trinity Ridge a few years back and he was a very caring, interesting hard working, person and yes he still loved to talk shoes. I remember his sales buy 1 pair and get 1 for a nickle. May he rest in peace

As I communicated the sad news of his passing, memories of wonderful experiences through Angelo's Shoes from so many people across a couple generations were shared. We all have paused this week to relive some of those priceless moments in his honor and in appreciation of him. He positively impacted the lives of countless people...both children and adults. He also was a cherished friend of my father, David Sain. Thank you for touching our lives in the most perfect of ways, Mr. Emanuel.

I, like thousands of others, took my son to Angelos Shoes to be fitted for his first walking shoes. My son loved going and he grew to love his trips for new shoes and getting a special toy with each visit. He also had a special name for the owner-Mr. Angel- and I think that says it all. Prayers and sympathy for you all 🙏🏻❤️

I grew up being fitted with shoes from Mr. Angelo who would personally check each child for perfect fits! When I had my two children we lived in SC, but they were only fitted by Mr. Angelo! My father, Herbert Caldwell, remodeled the store. Never has there been a nicer, more respected businessman and gentleman. Condolences to his family.

Jane and Angelo were good friends, and meant a lot to us. Sharon, I have tried to reach out to him in the past several months and was not able to find your number. Know that we share in your loss today, and prayers to all of you.
