Edward “Ed” Jacumin of Hickory passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018 at his home. Born September 9, 1926 in Burke County, NC, he was the son of the Emanuel and Effie Webb Jacumin. Ed loved golf, spending time watching the Atlanta Braves and Duke Blue Devils. He was a devoted and active member of Highland United Methodist Church.
A World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, he was honorably discharged as a Sgt 1st Class in January , 1954. Ed was a member of the American Legion Post 48 and St. Stephens Lions Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 50 years, Betty Robinson Jacumin; sisters, Shirley J. Gragg and Thelma Jacumin; and brother, Darrell Jacumin.
Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Jill J. Deal and husband Robert; grandsons Hayden and Garrett Deal; sisters, Patricia Zimmerman and Jeanette Norman and husband Melvin; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and his grand dog, Zoie.
A Celebration of Dad’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Highland United Methodist Church in Hickory with Pastor Roy Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory, 940 29th Ave NE, Hickory, NC (828) 256-5740.
