High Point- Charles (Charlie) Ralph Harbinson Jr., age 87, passed away on April 6, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center. Charlie was born April 27, 1930, to the late Charles Ralph Harbinson, Sr. and the late Berta Beck Harbinson. He grew up in High Point and Lexington and resided in the Union Cross Community.
As a young boy Charlie loved aviation and received his pilot’s license before his sixteenth birthday. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, Class of 1952. Charlie was employed with Blue Bell in Greensboro for twenty years retiring in 1985. After retirement, he served the community as a part time funeral assistant with Sechrest Funeral Service for more than ten years.
Charlie was a life-long member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in High Point where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and served on many committees. He also enjoyed landscaping, gardening, woodworking, construction, and remodeling.
He was married the former Lee Myers and they celebrated sixty-four years of married bliss. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Jeff Harbinson, and wife, Mary Reardon and Eric Harbinson, and wife, Wendy Harbinson; seven grandchildren, Greg Harbinson, Brett Harbinson, Kaylee Harbinson, Rachel Lee Harbinson, Charles (Beck) Harbinson, Myers Harbinson and Bryce Harbinson. Charlie was preceded in death by two children, Sandra Lee Harbinson and Charles (Chuck) Harbinson, III, who both died early in life from Cystic Fibrosis.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in High Point with inurnment to follow. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the service time.
