Sadie Lee Pegram Walker

Mrs. Walker was born August, 24, 1923, in Wadesboro, NC, to the late Lee Pegram and late Lillie Russell Pegram.

After high school graduation, Sadie moved to High Point in 1941 to work. On February 14, 1942, she married the late Lester Walker in High Point. She was a longtime member of Brentwood Presbyterian Church. Sadie will be remembered as a hard working woman, for her love of poetry and as a loving mother, grandmother and “great mother.”

Also preceding her in death were brothers, Bill Pegram and Tot Pegram; a sister, Mary Lillie Murdock; and son-in-law, Ken Weavil.

Sadie is survived by a daughter, Beverly Weavil; son, Michael Lester Walker; five grandchildren, Michelle Walker Azeem, Sonya Rose, Brian Weavil, Robert Walker and Jennifer Brantley; ten great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Yazmine, Lane, Zack, Nyilah, Avery, Garrett, Colton, Grady and Lilly; and special nieces and nephews, Mary Lynn, Jeannie, Milton, Joey, Wayne, and Jeffrey; and special life-long friend, Gray Mariella.

In lieu of flowers, to honor Sadie’s two special great-granddaughters Elizabeth and Lilly, the family requests that memorials be sent to High Point Special Olympics, 136 North Point Ave. High Point, NC 27262; or Give Kids The World, 210 S Bass Rd, Kissimmee, FL 34746.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 22, 2018, at Sechrest Funeral Service in High Point and will be officiated by Dr. Kent Kern. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2018.
