February 6, 1970 – May 20, 2020
Grover “Birch” Jones, age 50, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, in Cartersville, Georgia. He was born in Troy, Alabama.
Birch was a 1988 Cleveland High School graduate, 1992 Carson Newman graduate and 2008 graduate of Southern Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree.
Birch was employed with 84 Lumber for 26 years, pastored The Church of the Vine in Dallas, Georgia and was currently employed with Trussway Manufacturing, Acworth, Georgia.
Among Birch’s greatest joys was hunting with his Dad, fishing, and coaching his children’s sports teams. He enjoyed going on mission trips to Honduras with his Dad who was one of the founders of the Honduras Baptist Medical Dental Evangelism Missions. Birch was also passionate about the ministry of Lake Forest Ranch where he and his children loved to serve. But his greatest joy was his relationship with Jesus Christ, his Savior.
“A smile that wins, a manner that takes; everywhere he goes, friends he makes.”
He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Bert Jones in 2016.
Birch is survived by his mother, Peggy C. Jones of Chattanooga; his wife, Jennifer; his former wife, Suzanne mother of their children, Juliana (Eli) Jones - Beaton, Holt Jones, Carolina Jones, and Zac Jones; sister, Fondra (Tom) Magee; step-son, Aaron Johnson and nephews, Mason and Carson Magee.

My heart is broken for all of you. I well remember the arms of a little three year old boy around my neck in the three year old kindergarten class at FBC Laurel. He was so full of life and joy! I know the impact of a life well lived will live on. My love to all of you. Cheryl Jefcoat

I'm so devastated and heartbroken to hear that Birch is gone. He and I grew up together since we were 8 yrs old in our neighborhood on Glennwood Dr. and would always tell people how long we've been friends and how close we have been especially the last few years and oh the stories we had growing up !!! We talked more this year but over the last few helped each other get thru some tough times, he was so easy to confide in, gonna miss that sweet voice. I'd try to come visit as often as I could to stay, he had a way of making me feel comfortable around him and anyone we would hang out with or meet, people loved him even if they'd just met him, he had such a likable personality that way and so fun to be around. Lastly I know that in the end he was happy and in love again, i hope that brings comfort to those who loved him like I did, it does me. He was and always will be one of my best friends and like many I will feel his loss forever.....RIP Birch Jones, i love you , til we meet again my beautiful friend ❤💯

Although I only knew Birch for a few years he always had a smile and a good word for everyone he met. He will be missed by everyone that he had contact with during his life and travels.
Rest in peace my friend.

Birch was like a brother. We were both Vols for life and could talk for hours about football and hunting. I still can’t believe that he is gone. But he will never be forgotten

Saddened to hear of Birch’s death. Remember fondly the times in Laurel when all the children were young. Will be remembering all of you during these days. Keep looking Up for strength and faith. God is good and will sustain you.

I met Birch 8 years ago on a jobsite. It was right around the snowmageddon that hit Atlanta . We were the first two there for a jobsite meeting. It was freezing, we waited for 2 hours for everyone to turn up, they never did. But we talked and talked..... and talked. Birch loved his family so much, he talked about them with such adoration and his wife too. We became fast friends.
Over the years we both went through our divorces and still remained there for each other, Often talking on the phone when we were at an all time low. Often crying, but always saying goodnight after laughing so hard. He got me, and I got him. We were good friends and nothing was hard to say to him.
The world will never be the same for me, the world lost a beautiful soul, and heaven gained an amazing angel!
Birch, I love you... I will miss you forever
