Duane Haring III deserves much to be written about him. Duanie never once made me feel anything less than his brother. He was argumentative, rough, affectionate, and smart enough to be dangerous in almost all settings — not the type of smart that lends itself to good grades, but the type of smart that synthesizes patterns to yield depth and empathy. The type of smart that matters. During high school, facing what we faced, our music and long unplanned summer days along the coast ending with a trip to Family Video helped to heal me.

Life was not fair to Duane. Not even close. Things were difficult and confusing; he was always encountering bad luck. Each misstep took him deeper into an undesirable groove, like a ratchet one cannot click back. But even though reality was sometimes difficult to perceive, his peerless, crystalline soul never stopped shining through. When that happened, and it was often, he always offered his big eyes, handsome smile, fabulous hair, silly laughter, and the unparalleled gift of his attention.

One never can do enough and I don’t know what to do, now. It cannot be goodbye because he is here in my heart, and I can still hear his music — so can you. I know that each person needs to make life work for themselves, but did it really have to be THAT hard for one so kind and loving and curious and passionate as he? Because it WAS, and that is not okay. Not by me.

Honor Duane. Love him. Remember him as he was before the world threw him every curve ball it could conceive. THIS Duane continues to grow and heal and expand. There are more instruments to learn, more jamming to do, more books to buy and never read, but to discuss anyhow. And, after that’s done, a winter awaits to touch the face of God and feel the sheer divine might of the lake, like stone, beating up from the deep to remind us we have a place and a purpose in what will only be described as a very lonely world without you, Duane. It was your star that was brightest.

Duane (aka Little Wayne)...Will surely be nephew, who was a very talented musician...he loved playing instruments, writing songs, and attending concerts whenever and wherever he could.
My oldest son, Ryan, Katie, and Megan(his sisters)....we're always together doing fun stuff at every get together...Ryan and Duane became. good friends and they would either be staying at my home...or his home. Duane had an unforgettable smile...very polite..later tn life of course....all the cousins started growing up and moving away. It with great sadness that Duane is no longer with us.....I know he had many more people to meet, songs to write and sing and instruments, to play. Duane!!! Love and miss you!!!♥

We are saddened to say goodbye to our nephew Duane Haring. Llittle Wayne is what we called him, big Wayne was his dad. I always remember seeing him on Christmas and him always coming towards me open arms for a hug. I loved those hugs and will miss them. I hope you are flying high and free of burden as Gods angel. You will always be missed here and never forgotten!
