January 21, 1938 – November 20, 2020
Terrence (Terry) Grotler, age 82 of Zeeland, passed away Friday, November 20, 2020 in Holland.
Terry was born Jan 21, 1938 in Holland to Trenton and Thelma Groteler, both who preceded him in death. He graduated from Holland High School in 1956, and was a member of Central Wesleyan Church where he served many years as an Usher and with the calling program. Terry was an avid deer hunter, and enjoyed taking his sons and grandsons to Ludington State Park for their annual deer hunt. He enjoyed his sons as he did not have any brothers, taught all the kids hard work, to be satisfied with what you have, and to work for everything you want. Terry and Lois enjoyed traveling. Taking short and long trips and even the backroads of Michigan. They loved to explore water falls, caves, and 2 track roads in the woods. Both were fly fisherman, many river trips with the canoe, and lots of camping trips with family. Terry enjoyed being on bowling teams with his brothers-in-law for many years, and Monday AM coffee with his buddies. He was known for his wisdom, smile, and being very friendly, even if he didn’t know the person, you could always tell he was interested in whoever he met. Terry retired as a machinist after 30 years from Precision Metal Production in Holland.
He is survived by his wife Lois of 62 years; children Doug (Mary) Grotler of East Saugatuck, Jacklyn (Jeff) Leeuw of Zeeland, Scott (Debby) Grotler of Howard City, and Kurt (Karen) Grotler of Taylors, SC; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Karen Van Houten of Hamilton, and Cheryl Hays; an aunt Donna Covington; in-laws, Don (Janet) Van Dommelen, Paul (Cindy) Van Dommelen, Lane (Ruth) Tharp, all of Holland, David Van Dommelen of Plainwell, and Todd (Kelly) Eklund of Byron Center; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will take place at North Holland Cemetery.
A Private Graveside Service will be held.

Life is never fair. I will always remember Terry's great outlook on life and his great sense of humor and poking some fun Loi's way always gave him a great laugh. Terry's smile was contagious.
YOU are already missed my friend!
