Mella Fern Barnard, 88, of New Bloomfield, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at Valley Park in Holts Summit. She was born June 9, 1924 in Charleston, Mo., the daughter of the late Eugene and Maddie (Orndoff) Brumley.
She was united to William Spencer Barnard on August 30, 1941 in Jefferson City. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1990.
Mella was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She spent her working years at Chesebrough Ponds in Jefferson City. One to give of her time to care for others, she volunteered at OATS. She had a passion for flowers and baking.
Those remaining to cherish her memory include three sons, Stephen Barnard and wife Frankie of Branson, Gary Barnard and wife Donna of Boonville, and Dan Barnard of New Bloomfield; two daughters, Rebecca Siegel and husband John, and Martha Siegel and husband Jim, all of New Bloomfield; brothers, W. A. “Fred” Brumley and wife Bertha of Bakersfield, and Jim Brumley and wife Terry of Clarkridge, Ar.; sisters, Barbara Wilson of Waterford, Ca., and Mary Southern of Riverbank, Ca.; sister-in-law Machiko Brumley of Modesto, Ca.; seventeen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, and three brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Debo Funeral Home in Holts Summit with Reverend Jim Shaver and Reverend Bob Korff officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery in New Bloomfield.
The family will receive friends from 10 am until the time of service.
