Agnes Bradford Stough passed from this life on Saturday, December 8th at the age of 95. She was born in Plantersville, Alabama to Dr. Harry and Mrs. Ardelle Russell Bradford. When Agnes was four years old, her family including 3 sisters and 2 brothers moved to Birmingham where her father practiced Oral Surgery. While at Phillips High School, she enjoyed music and played the cello in her the school orchestra. She continued these studies at Birmingham Southern College. Later in life she enjoyed painting landscapes and still life.
She met her future husband, William Harvey Stough at the Central Church of Christ in Birmingham, and shortly after they were married there on August 16, 1942. Harvey served as a Captain in the Army Air Corp during World War ll and was stationed in England. After the war ended, Agnes and Harvey began their life together and were married for 59 years. Agnes taught Sunday School for many years at the West End Church of Christ and the Homewood Church of Christ. Harvey became an elder at the Homewood Church of Christ where he served for 35 years.
Agnes is survived by her daughters Amelia Stough Biser and Rebecca Stough Crosby; grandchildren William Drew Crosby, Randall Bradford Biser, Russell William Edward Biser, and Lauren Crosby Warren, and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William Harvey Stough, granddaughter Paige Crosby Wightman, and all of her siblings.
The visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00pm on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood. The funeral will be at 10:00am on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Rideout’s Valley Chapel, with burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
