Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Andre's childhood was rooted in the charming community of Mountain Brook, where she was a cherished member of Canterbury United Methodist Church growing up. She graduated from Mountain Brook High School in 1972 and pursued her passion for education at Auburn University, earning her Bachelor of Education Degree in 1976. On July 30, 1977, she married her high school sweetheart, Junius Lee Brantley and they have been faithful members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Mountain Brook for many years.
Andre embraced life with a warm and open heart, radiating grace and hospitality to everyone she encountered. Gathering family and friends around her table for a meal brought her immense joy. However, her truest happiness was found in her children and grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as "Mommy Dre."
Andre was preceded in death by her parents, Ann Bryant Rochester and Andrew Derrick Rochester, and her sister, Drucilla Ann Rochester. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Junius Lee Brantley, her children, Jason Lee Brantley (Laura) and Bryant Brantley Davis (John), and her beloved grandchildren, Kate Brantley, Whit Brantley, Anders Davis, and Drew Davis.
A Memorial Service in honor of Andre's life will take place at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Monday, November 6th, at 11:00 AM, with visitation held before the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Luke’s Foundation at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church or PreSchool Partners (www.preschool-partners.org).
Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel (205-879-3401) in Homewood.
