Shannon was born in Tulsa Oklahoma on 11 May 1963, the only child to Bill and Bettsy York. Shannon lived with her mother on her grandparents’ farm in Tulsa. Shannon attended both Jenks and Monte Casino School where she graduated in 1981. Early on, Shannon exhibited evidence of her free spirit which became her signature throughout life. Always the tomboy, Shannon enjoyed swimming in ponds, training dogs, and riding horses. Her love of animals spurred her towards a career in veterinary medicine where she excelled as a clinic manager. After the passing of her beloved grandparents, Shannon and her mother moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas where she invested in and managed rental properties until her death. Although her life was short, Shannon touched innumerable others’ lives through her kindness and generosity.
Shannon is survived by her mother, Bettsy York, her aunt and uncle, Judy and Gary Koelbl, cousin, Alexis Koelbl, and two stepchildren, Cameron Dennis and Michael Obermiller.
