Charles was born in San Antonio, Texas. He proudly served in the US Army and retired in Houston, Texas after 31 years of both active and reserve duty.
Charles was a loving husband, father, and grandfather (Or Popo, as he was affectionately known to his grandchildren). He is survived by Bertha, his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, daughter Gina, sons Charles (daughter-in-law Kerri), Michael (daughter-in-law Christina), and Edward. And his beloved grandchildren Evan, Rachel, Amanda, Charles, Samantha, Rebecca, and Allison.
He is also survived by his sister Theresa Ruiz (brother-in-law Humbert) and brothers Ernest Pastrano (sister-in-law Rosa) and Cirilo Pastrano (sister-in-law Dora). And his sisters-in-law Rose Garanzuay and Alice Cervantes, brother-in-law Richard Perez (sister-in-law Connie) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and granddaughter Laura.
Hon, Dad, Popo, our hearts are broken and we will miss you. But your legacy will live on and we will cherish and hold in our hearts our memories and moments with you. Love you, forever and always.
Private services will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and he will be laid to rest with full military honors at Houston National Cemetery.
