Dany Turgeon, 59, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away on April 30, 2026, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. His family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care and unwavering support provided by the medical team who stood beside him.
Dany was born on May 27, 1966, in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, Canada. He moved to the United States in 1994 to build his life and career, working as a dedicated sheet metal worker. He was known for his strong work ethic, sharp sense of humor, and his ability to bring laughter to those around him. Affectionately known as “Goose,” Dany had a way of giving those he loved a hard time—always with the intention of building them up and making them better.
Dany was also known for his extraordinary strength and resilience. A true fighter, he overcame a quadruple heart attack in 2015 and later faced a long and difficult battle with gastric cancer from 2018 to 2022. His prior doctors, as well as those who cared for him during his final battle with an empyema with fistula, often spoke of his determination with deep admiration—recognizing in him a rare and unwavering will to keep pushing forward no matter the odds. These battles were not just medical milestones—they were defining reflections of his courage and the grit that inspired everyone around him. Through it all, Dany’s strength was deeply rooted in his love for his family and his unwavering belief that God was his source, sustaining him and giving him the will to keep fighting. That same resilience shaped the way he showed up for those he loved—with steadfast devotion, quiet strength, and a determination that never wavered.
He held a deep love and pride for his Canadian heritage, which was woven into his everyday life in the most endearing ways. Completely unaware of the shift, Dany would often slip seamlessly from English into French mid-conversation—only to pause and wonder why others had stopped responding. It was a charming reflection of who he was, leaving those around him smiling and reminded of the roots he cherished so deeply.
Above all, Dany was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Turgeon; his children, Savana Turgeon and her significant other, Ryan Huddleston, Cody Turgeon and his significant other, Anna Knowles; his stepdaughter, Samantha Henderson and her husband, Justin Henderson; his stepson, Mason Morgan; his stepson, Cameron Johnson, and his cherished grandchildren, Bryleigh Turgeon and Elliot Henderson.
His children were his world, and he made being a great father his highest priority. Savana lovingly called him “Papa” and stood faithfully by his side until his final moments. Cody worked
alongside his father daily, carrying forward his work ethic and deep respect for him. His children never had to wonder how much they were loved—they knew it fully and completely.
Dany is also survived by his mother, Nicole Bouffard; his brother, Richard Turgeon and his fiancée, Lynn Dubois; his niece, Jenny Michaud; along with many extended family members in Canada with whom he shared a close and lasting bond. Though he lived in Louisiana, he remained deeply connected to his family, cherishing every call and every visit.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jean Marc Turgeon.
Dany built a life surrounded by strong friendships that felt like family. Trey Garrett, who was like a brother to him, stood faithfully by his side along with his wife, Jerri Garrett, traveling often to support Dany and Laura during his illness. The Triplet family and many others shared deep bonds with him. He had countless friendships that reflected the kind of man he was—loyal, supportive, and deeply loved. Even those from earlier chapters of his life, including Linda Johnson and Katrina Welch, remained close and cared for him deeply.
Dany had a deep passion for hunting and was an avid outdoorsman. He also enjoyed collecting firearms and took great pride in sharing these interests with others. At home, he shared a special bond with his dog, Tracker, whose loyal habit of bringing him his slippers remains a quiet and touching reminder of their love.
Dany fought with incredible strength and determination, inspiring all who witnessed his courage. He will be remembered for his laughter, his loyalty, his tough love, and the way he made people feel valued, important, and deeply loved.
He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered. His legacy of strength, love, and unwavering faith in God will continue to live on in all who knew him.
