Donald Ray Reimers was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Don was born in Douglas, Arizona, on June 4, 1934 to Faye Bratton Reimers and Raymond Henry Reimers. Don is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Clara Morrison Reimers, daughters Terri Reimers Killen and husband Scott, Kirste Reimers and husband Bill Maxey, Erin Reimers Fahy and husband Dan, and Stacey Reimers Casner. He was also survived by his three stepchildren whom he loved like his own: Cecilia Maddox and husband Rusty, Christie Christian and husband Greg, and John Beszborn and wife Angi; Grandchildren, Shellie Killen Deringer, Travis Killen, Austin Fahy, Kelly Fahy, Bennett Maddox, James Maddox, Ansley Maddox, Jessica Wright, Gage Garrett, Samuel Christian, Dillon Henderson and 11 great-grandchildren.
Don graduated from the University of Texas in 1958 with a degree in Architecture. He worked with many firms during his sixty-year career and retired from Kirksey Architecture in 2010. He founded the Donner Group in 2010 and continued his love of architecture serving clients throughout Texas. Don’s passion was historic preservation. He served on the Board of Directors of Preservation Texas. He was also a member of National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Texas Historic Building Foundation, and the Galveston Historic Foundation.
All of us were blessed to have shared in the life of this very special man. A visitation was held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 21st at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas, where the memorial service began at 2:00 p.m. Fellowship followed during a reception at the church.
We will always miss and always cherish his kind, loving, and generous heart.
