

Dorothy Munger of Houston died Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Grace Care Center in Katy, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert S. Munger. She is survived by two sons, Thomas W. Munger (wife Paula) of Richmond VA. And Robert G Munger (wife Cathi) of Houston; one grandson, James E Munger (wife Lisa) of Seattle WA ; three great-grandchildren, Bobby,Drew and Ellen of Seattle, WA; numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren; and many friends
Born Dorothy V. Wade, February 14, 1922, in Glen Burnie, MD, to Solomon and Fannie Wade, Dottie received a BA degree from Maryland State Teachers’ College, now Towson University. She served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. She furthered her schooling after the war at Oklahoma State University, where she met Mr. Munger and earned a Master of Education degree. She also attended McNeese State University.
Mrs. Munger taught elementary and junior high school in Maryland, Oklahoma and Louisiana and she was a professional social worker in Louisiana and New Jersey. She was active in civic and church activities, including the American Association of University Women, Habitat for Humanity and the Calcasieu Parish Literacy Council.
A Memorial service will be held at the Forest Park Westheimer funeral chapel in Houston at 10:00 AM on May 8. An inurnment of the ashes of both Mr. and Mrs. Munger will follow the service. The family requests donations to Houston Hospice in lieu of Flowers
