Edna Fay Poindexter, age 78, of Katy, Texas passed away on Wednesday January 9, 2019. Edna was born March 4, 1940 to Lillie Jewel Jackson and Carmen John Jackson in Houston, Texas. Edna enjoyed seeing people happy, spending time with family and friends, and helping other less fortunate. If asked, Edna would share that her proudest accomplishments were raising her children to become responsible individuals. She believed in treating others with respect and always doing your best at whatever you do. If she were here, she would encourage all to keep God in your hearts and to honor the Ten Commandments everyday.
Edna is survived by her husband of 61 years, Herbert C. Poindexter; children Janet Janisch-Marquis and her husband Wayne Marquis; daughter Leota Jean Cano and husband Valentine Cano; and sister Eva Joyce Eoff; grandchildren Bobby Janisch and wife Elli, Shelly Verret - husband Rafael Verret, Heather Waddle - husband Patrick Waddle, Crystal Wallace, Preston Poindexter, Elizabeth Cano and Deborah Cano and great-grandchildren.
Edna was preceded in death by; children Larry Wayne Poindexter, Gary Lavoy Poindexter and Patricia Fay Knox; mother Lillie Jewel Jackson and father Carmen John Jackson and sister Bettye Sue Dillard.
A visitation for Edna will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home - Family Chapel, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A committal service and burial will follow the funeral service immediately at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
Serving as pallbearers are - Wayne Marquis, Bobby Janisch, Preston Poindexter and Rafael Verret.
