Edrie Claire Bridges, age 79, passed away on June 30, 2018, in Houston, Texas. Edrie’s family was long-time residents of Liberty, Texas. She would have graduated from Liberty High School in 1957, but for a move to Waco her senior year. As a young woman, she worked for the local gas company, and later in life, for the County Courthouse. She was a passionate supporter of art, and served as past Secretary in the Liberty Art League. Edrie made this world a better place for all those she touched, an angel on earth. She was a lifter of spirits, an embracer of all cultures, ages, and classes. Edrie was a people-person all her life. She valued family first, a free spirit whose beautiful smile and twinkling eyes will be forever remembered by her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, William Thomas and Edrie Claire Bridges, and brother, Thomas J. Bridges. She is survived by her children, Lisa C. Kelley of Houston, and Benjamin K. Cromwell of Austin; her brother and sister-in-law, Kirke and Susan Bridges of Houston; her niece and grand-nephews, Holly Marie, Lyrik Anthony, and Kalen William Nunez of Houston; and grandchildren, Raegan Emma and Reese Olivia Cromwell of Austin. The family wishes to thank her caregivers, nurses, and aides who provided the most personal of services with dignity and respect. And to Sheltering Arms for recognizing she had so much life in her and always greeting her with a warm smile. And to Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care for giving her a home and keeping her safe always. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, July 11th, at 11am, at Pat. H. Foley Funeral Home, in Houston, Texas. Flowers brought her joy, and are welcomed as a remembrance of what she meant to all of us. The family also welcomes charitable donations in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Houston and Southeast Texas Chapter (https://www.alz.org/texas) and to Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care (http://www.sevenacres.org/contribute.php).
