Essie “Elaine” Netters was a caring and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grand-dear, and friend. She was a fighter that lost her battle with cancer but won the war with a beautiful life. She passed away on Sunday, July 25, at the age of 69.
She brought in the New Year with her birth to Willie Mae Hodge on January 1, 1952, and celebrated life ever since. Elaine valued the education and life provided by her mother by graduating early from high school as a student athlete playing basketball. She went on to what is now the University of North Texas and graduated with a degree in English. She started and ended her career working in the accounting field at ExxonMobil. During this time she earned a Masters Degree in Human Resources. She also enjoyed being a real estate agent during her retirement.
Elaine valued family with her brother Joe and raising her kids Tai, Rachel, and step-son Taurus. She grew her family later in life with an additional 9 siblings. She found love again later in life with her husband Gerald adding 8 more step-children into her family. At the time of her passing she had 10 siblings, 11 children and step-children, and over 25 grandchildren.
Elaine loved to cook, shop, and play the slots. She lived life by dancing and celebrating others. She was musically talented with dancing and she played the piano and organ for church and fun. It seemed as though she never forgot a birthday and never missed an opportunity to give or send a card.
