Frances Bonner was born in 1917 in Chesnee, South Carolina in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. Her family moved from there to a farm in Mountain Rest, South Carolina. She grew up in Mountain Rest with her brothers Charlie, Bill, Homer, Steve and Baxter along with her sisters Betty and Ruth. Her home place is now gone but the lake her father and uncle built still remains and that is where she built a home on the lake and where she loved to visit. Frances left home as a young adult and was a civilian plane spotter during World War II in Florida. There she met Harold Huff from Gloster, Mississippi who was in the Army Air Corp. They married and had two daughters, Dianne and Nancy. After the war Harold and Frances moved their family to Texas. As time went by, Dianne married Rhett Butler and Nancy married William (Buzz) Oliver and gave Frances three grandchildren, Michael, Julie and Danny. The family grew again when Mike married Tammy, Danny married Jenny and Julie married Terry and Frances’s life was enriched even more with the addition of her 6 great-grandchildren Autumn, Hunter, Haley, Kelsey, Brendan and Caroline. Haley married Ronny and the family increased again with two great-great granddaughters, Ronni Avalynne and Haven. Last Christmas was a joyous celebration for Frances with five generations of her family present! Frances’s life was summed up by Jenny when Jenny wrote: “the 18 years I’ve known her I witnessed a profound sense of duty to her Savior to love everyone, to be compassionate without judgement and to care for her family. Her laughter was infectious and her classiness top notch. Always proper, always thankful, a ball of energy and a blessing to all who knew her or crossed her path. Definitely one of a kind”.
