I met Gilbert in 1960 at Deady Junior High School, he was a quiet kid who kept to himself and never spoke in class. Later he would be known as Boll Weevil, and finally just Bo. I have lived a long time, had many friends, but I never had a relationship with a friend as I had with Bo. We hung out together all the time, went to parties, dances or, just walked the streets of magnolia. We would work weekends at the Houston Yacht Club, steal beer to drink in the quarters they provided for the kitchen help, and just talk about nothing and everything. We worked together as carpenter's helpers, painters, roofers, and trim installers....anything for a buck. He was a better worker than I was, perhaps because he had a more difficult childhood than I had. He was my best friend, and although we shared a love for each other that is rare, even in brothers....we never expressed those sentiments. I thank God, I was able to tell him I loved him before he left us. We didn't see each other for extended times, but when we did, the affinity we shared for each other was always there. Bo will live in my heart and memory for the rest of my life, I will never forget him!! Rest in Peace, My Brother!!

It is very hard to express and explain how I feel . . . But a very , Very fine person. . I have known Big Gilbert since 1977. I work along side Big Gil for awhile. I worked with his son, and I worked with his grandson at the same job. All those Alaniz generations. My prayers go out to his family. . . . He will be missed but he lives in spirit to guide us all.

Miss you My Brother . . . . . Amen
