Preceded in death by: Loving husband, Norris Carle, parents, brother, and two sisters.
Survived by: daughters, Susan Crowley-Wasson, Sally Holberg, four grandchildren, Carrie Crowley, Chris Crowley, Mike Holberg, Jeremy Holberg, ten great grandchildren, and adopted family, Bill, Bonnie, and Blake Bijak.
Those who loved her knew her as Gloria, Skeeter, Mama, Mimi, Grandma or Yaya. Born in Eastland, Texas but spent her early years in Batesville, Arkansas. Then her family moved to the Houston Heights. She married the love of her life on February 8, 1943 when she was just 16 years old. She graduated from John H. Reagan High School. After World War II in 1947 they moved to their first and only home in Garden Oaks. She joined St. Matthews Methodist Church in the early 1950’s. She was an active volunteer at the girl’s schools when they were growing up. She loved going to the YMCA for exercise classes and senior outings. She was a charter member of the neighborhood Bunco group. She loved playing Bingo three days a week at Brookdale. She loved handwork. She did needlepoint, crochet, and quilting. She loved her family and was a loyal friend.
A visitation for Gloria will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pat H. Foley & Company. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the chapel at Pat H. Foley & Company.
