I wish I could give you a hug and tell you in person how much Uncle Jack meant to me. While I was in high school I remember how your dad would always ask me how my schoolwork was going and always checked in on my sports teams. From those days I understood he had a remarkable way of connecting with everyone he knew in a deep and meaningful way. I felt he really cared about what was happening in my life always. In fact I know I was loved unconditionally by both Aunt Elaine and Uncle Jack.

When I first started working in Newark at Prudential he had his dear friend Jack Adelhelm look after me. As a new corporate employee just starting out my career that meant the world to me. Again, I felt the power of this special love.

As children we loved our extended Behan family and were blessed with great aunts and great uncles. We also grew to love Ocean Beach by visiting your family there. When my dad was able to buy the bungalow next door it changed our family’s lives forever. We then had a place to center the love our families had for each other. Despite my children growing up so far from everyone they knew and dearly loved their Uncle Jack and Aunt Elaine. They found in them what we had in our childhood aunt and uncles. I will always treasure the time they came to see Austin play soccer.

If I am blessed to ever be a grandparent I want to be just like my Uncle Jack. This is yet another way I felt he mentored me. Unabashedly proud of all his grandchildren, we felt like we knew everything about them. What a blessing.

I had the fortune to go to a few Yankees games with him too. Sincerely one of the best memories of my life was a game where I saw my dad and yours celebrating a Yankee win with my three children, my brother, my nephew and my brother-in-Law. Family is all that maters.

To a life well lived.

I love you all.
Arleen
