
Bro. Leo P Ross was born to Parker and Ora Dell Ross on July 26, 1926. He was the oldest of four children. He attended public schools graduating from Sam Houston High School in Huntsville, Texas. He moved to Houston, Texas and later united in holy matrimony on Feb 18, 1957 to Jane E. Noble. To this union two children were born; a son, Eric, and a daughter, Bridgette. Leo was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a PFC in the US ARMY. His chosen profession was a barber and was the proud owner of the Louisiana Barber shop. He also barbered at the Veterans Administration Hospital for many years. At the same time he worked for the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center where he later retired in 1992. Leo was a member of the Jordan Grove Baptist Church where he served on the usher board until he united in 1967 with the Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. As a member of Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church he served as president of the mens usher board for many years. He was also a member of the male chorus and served on the culinary committee. Leo continued these duties even as his sight began to fail. He was a faithful attendee of Sunday worship services, bible study and Sunday school. Bro. Leo P. Ross departed this earthly realm on Thursday, September 13, 2012. His is proceeded in death by his loving wife Jane, parents and 2 siblings (Opal Cook & Olga Ross). He leaves to cherish his memory: son, Eric Ross (daughter-in-law Darlene); a daughter, Bridgette Whiteing (son-in-law Herman); a step daughter, Ann Etta Carr; only surviving sibling Gloria Justice, three grandchildren Lawanda, Austin & Lamont; 5 great grandchildren and a host of special, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
