A native Austinite, Michel was born on February 19th, 1963 at Bergstrom Air Force Base. She graduated from Del Valle High School in 1981 after being active in the track and field team, band, student council, Latin club, and National Honor Society. She was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” and graduated 10th in her class. She went on to the University of Texas at Austin where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising.
While attending UT, she met her husband, Mark, who she married in 1989, and they later had two beautiful children. In 1988, she started her career in advertising at GSD&M where she became an Associate Media Director. Ten years later, she moved to McGarrah Jessee and for 23 years she was an integral part of their growth. She was the Media Director for twenty of those years before transitioning into their Office Concierge role in which she planned events and meetings, acted as the agency liaison for the community and industry, and supported her coworkers through their own day to day routines.
Michel was best known for her innate ability to love and care for others. She anticipated others' needs before being asked, always took action to help or encourage others, and led with heart and humanity in all that she did.
Her greatest joy came from being a mother to her son and daughter, Taylor and Macy, and a grandmother to her grandson, Easton.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Burt Taylor; sister, Melinda Taylor; and father in-law, Ronald Larry Lozen.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Lozen; children, Taylor Lozen (Molly Bucek) and Macy Lozen (Jocelyn Phillips); grandson, Easton Lozen; furbaby, Stubby; mother, Georgia Eleanor Sosebee; sisters, Amy Mendez (Hector Mendez) and Jennifer Taylor; mother in-law, Shirley Lozen; sister in-law, Nicole Tocco; nephew, Luke Tocco; brothers in-law, Jeff Lozen and Scott Lozen; along with 16 other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org in memoriam of Michel Lozen. A Celebration of Life is being planned for early October with details to follow.
