Melvin R. Laws

Melvin graduated from Ball High School, and joined the Marine Corp and served for 6 years. He married the love of his life Linda Laws on March 26, 1959. During the course of his life he was a member of the VFW organization as well as a member of the Chosen Few. He had a passion for family history, and the history of war.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Laws; sister, Judy Barrett; and his parents, Lillie Lucille and Herman William Laws. He is survived by his son, Ronnie Laws; daughter, Kathy Byrd and husband Mike; grandchildren, Melissa Barnes and husband Richard, Brandon Byrd, Megan Hare and husband Matt, Derrick Byrd and wife Kasey, Ryan Byrd and wife Kendra and Kendall Byrd and fiancé Troy Surber; great-grandchildren, Bella, Gavin, Emmett, Maverick, Nathan, Peyton, Corbin, Katelyn, Madison, and Candice; sister, Sharon Cook and husband Bill.

The family will receive extended family and friends for Visitation February 19, 2019 in the family chapel from 5-8pm at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. Funeral services will be held at Brookside Funeral Home on February 20, 2019 at 10am followed by a burial at Brookside Memorial Park.
