Minnie was born to George “Jack” Henry Gorman and Caroline “Lena” Louise Fischer Gorman, June 05, 1933, in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School where she played the bugle in the Scottish Drum and Bugle Corps. She married Carl Wayne Gaeckler and they lived together in Houston, Texas. Together they raised two children.
She is survived by: Deborah Speeg (Daughter), Carl Gaeckler, Jr. (Son) and his partner Patricia Galloway, Steven Patterson (Grandson), Lori McBride (Granddaughter) and her husband Sean, Katherine Speeg (Granddaughter), Amanda Rightmer (Granddaughter) and her husband Travis, Carl Gaeckler III (Grandson), Dani Gaeckler (Granddaughter), Charles Gaeckler (Grandson), and Brandon, Kyle, Trevor, Celeste, KayLynn, Rian, Gray, Tyler and Barrett (her Great Grand Children), Doris Gorman (Sister in Law), and numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by Carl Gaeckler, her husband of 48 years, her siblings Caroline Vogel (sister), Betty Schmidt Eilert (sister), and Jack Gorman (brother).
Minnie Gaeckler started working for the telephone company shortly after graduating high school and took a break from there for a few years while she had her children. She went back to work for them after her children were in school and eventually retired from AT&T.
Minnie served in PTA while her children were in Genoa Elementary School, even serving as the local president for a few years. She was always busy helping plan the school carnivals and fund raisers. She was the neighborhood Avon lady for many years, knocking on doors of her friends and neighbors in Genoa, to provide them with the newest scents and decanters available at the time.
Minnie was a lifelong member of First Evangelical Church of Houston, now known as First Lutheran Houston, which was her family’s church she grew up in. She raised her children in the church where they attended Sunday school and church regularly. She loved singing in the choir for many years with her friends and family members.
She was a loving and caring person donating to many charities throughout her life, always wanting to help those less fortunate, helping whomever was in need. She will be missed sadly by so many that her life here on earth touched. May she rest in peace with no pain and in the company of her loved ones that preceded her.
