July 4, 1929 – July 20, 2018
Murl Buck, 89 years of age, of Kaufman, Texas passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018. Murl was born in Royal, Arkansas on July 4, 1929.
Murl served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, which included one year in the Korean Theatre. He was awarded a Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Cp Star and the UN Service Medal with a Bronze Camp star.
Murl was a member of First Baptist Church of Houston and enjoyed singing in the choir and greeting those that entered each Sunday. He worked for the United States Post Office, at the Cy-Fair Independent School District, at the Astrodome as a ticket taker, and enjoyed being an Umpire for Little League Baseball and Referee for the Little League Basketball. He liked staying busy and found jobs in his areas of interest. He loved working in his yard and attending church.
Murl is proceeded in death by, his parents, Lou and Dow Buck, his brothers Hurl, Clyde, Elzie, Hurfus, Orel, sisters, Irene, Leona, Tressie, Cleva, Olene, Marjorie, grandson Shawn and his wife Belinda. Murl is survived by his brother, C.L. His first wife, Bobbie. Their three children, Deborah Barrera, spouse John, and children Bryan, Allison and Maria; James Buck, spouse Meredith, and children Cory and Sarah; Christy Reeves, spouse Shane, and children Ashleigh and Shane, with 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other family and friends. He is also survived by his son, with Belinda, Benjamin Buck and his two children.
The viewing will be held Thursday, August 2, 5-8pm at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd, Houston, Texas 77008.
The Memorial Service will be held at 10am on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Heights Funeral Home, followed by a Military burial, at 2pm, at the Houston National VA Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial, Houston, Texas 770038.
