Robert Errol Myers, known as Bob by his family and friends, was born on September 8, 1931 to Errol Goodwin and Lucille Johnson Myers in Noblesville, Indiana. He passed into glory surrounded by his family at eighty-six years of age on Monday, June 18, 2018. He was raised in Muncie, Indiana where he graduated from Burris High School in 1949. He earned a B.S. in Geology in 1953 from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. He then went on to obtain a M.S. in Geology from the University of Illinois at Urbana in 1955. Upon completing his masters he accepted a job in the oil industry in Lafayette, Louisiana. In 1957 he was drafted into the Army where he served his country for a brief period before he was released to resume his job in the energy field. In 1972 he was transferred to Houston, Texas where he worked for Columbia Gas Development Corporation and retired after thirty-nine years of faithful employment.
Robert met and married the love of his life, the former Glenda Lou Sandifer in 1959, and they enjoyed fifty-eight wonderful years of marriage. He was the loving father of three children, Susan Abbott, married to Preston Abbott following the death of her first husband, Charles Kelly Castleberry, Jr.; Mary Klein, married to Steve Klein; Kenneth Myers married to the former Julie Hedderman. He loved and faithfully invested in his eight grandchildren, Grant Castleberry, David Klein, Andrew Abbott, Anna Klein, Mary Beth Abbott, Megan Myers, Catherine Klein, and Kaylynn Klein, and three great-grandchildren, AudreyKate Castleberry, Evangeline Castleberry, and Charles Kelly Castleberry III, who affectionately called him “Pawpaw.” He is also survived by his beloved younger brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Kay Myers and several nieces and nephews.
Robert devoted his life to the service of his Master, Jesus Christ. He served faithfully in the choir, Sunday School, and various other ministries at Tallowood Baptist Church, where he was a member for forty-six years. Robert personified integrity, hard work, kindness, peace, faithfulness, and self-discipline. He also loved to have fun—effortlessly employing well-timed jokes and surprises to the joy and delight of others. He felt at home in the outdoors, especially fishing, hiking, and working at two of his favorite places in the world: his tree farm in Louisiana and the family lake house in the North Woods of Wisconsin. He enjoyed investing in relationships with family and friends in these environments—often teaching children and grandchildren both the important qualities of Christian character and the skills of the outdoors.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Antoine and Jean Valdetero, and granddaughter, Anna Klein.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 11:00 am at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Road, Houston, TX 77024, with a reception to follow at the Church. Graveside services will be on Friday, June 22, 2018 11:00 am at Bethel Cemetery in Colfax, LA.
