Ronald Joseph Gerseth, 87, of LaPorte, Texas, passed away on September 21, 2019, after a lengthy battle with lung disease.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Memory Faye, and five children: Tracy (Doug) Burbrink, Terri Woolley, John Gerseth, Donna (Randall) Bryant, and Janeen (Scott) Kerley; grandchildren Kristin and Courtney Manning, Ashley Chavas, Daniel and Karlie Burkhardt, Josh Taylor, Johnny Herring, Jennifer Davis, and Madison Kerley; along with many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Gene (Vicki), and preceded in death by his brother, John (Pat), parents Irene and Jack, and grandchildren Matthew Chavas and Brandon Bowling.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 4, 1932, Ronald attended Riverside High and went on to receive a degree in Business. A high energy person with an entrepreneurial spirit, he successfully owned many small business throughout his life, including a marina and a motel, and finally served in public relations for Ron Carter Automotive Group until his retirement in 2010. He had a passion for golf, football, and politics.

He served proudly in the US Navy from 1950 to 1953 aboard the USS Fiske and the USS Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr., earning several commendations during the Korean War and an honorable discharge. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.

The Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 inside the Chapel of American Heritage Funeral Home, after which he will be escorted to the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038, where he will be laid to rest with honors.
