born on September 20, 1938 in Houston, TX to Rev. Efrain Z. Bello, Sr. and Lydia G. Bello. She is
preceded in death by her parents, her Uncle Gustavo Gomez and Aunt Ofelia Negrete. Ruth is
survived by her brother Efrain Bello, Jr., her sister-in-law Carmen and niece Jennifer and
numerous cousins.
Ruth was an avid reader, especially of Hispanic culture and loved classical music. She enjoyed
researching family history. She always had a story to tell, especially of the time she lived in
Dallas and was able to see President JFK on his motorcade. She proudly held up a sign with her
name written on it hoping he would see it. As the President passed by and saw her sign, he
yelled out, "Hi Ruth!"
Ruth attended Austin College in Sherman, TX and later University of Houston - Downtown. She
was employed at Texas Eastern and later with the City of Houston until she retired in 2004.
Ruth was a very opinionated, strong, articulate, intelligent woman. She will be greatly missed.
Just hard to believe she is gone.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Memorial Herman Hospital for their
kindness and care to Ruth; as well as Vantage Hospice and Capstone Healthcare Estates.
A private service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home and Cemetery.
