Walter Lee Kidd, age 94, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord on the morning of July 10th, 2019 in Houston, Texas. He was born in Enterprise, Mississippi as the 10th of 11 children and raised in Meridian. On the day before his 18th birthday he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in World War II as a radioman and navigator flying in the PBY amphibious aircraft.
Returning from service, Walter graduated from Mississippi State University and married the love of his life, Abigail Anne Laughlin. They had five children, Priscilla, Rachael, Lee, David and Paul.
Walter’s work took the family across the country, from Los Angeles to Florida, as he worked with defense contractors and at NASA in Cape Canaveral, Florida, finally settling in Houston, Texas working for Brown and Root Construction Co.
Walter was always a uniquely loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather of 12 and great grandfather of 14. The center of a large and boisterous family, he was fun loving, ever helpful, and gifted with a joyful sense of humor that enriched the lives of all who knew him.
