Walter Lee Kidd
July 6, 1925 – July 10, 2019
Walter Lee Kidd, age 94, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord on the morning of July 10th, 2019 in Houston, Texas. He was born in Enterprise, Mississippi as the 10th of 11 children and raised in Meridian. On the day before his 18th birthday he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in World War II as a radioman and navigator flying in the PBY amphibious aircraft.
Returning from service, Walter graduated from Mississippi State University and married the love of his life, Abigail Anne Laughlin. They had five children, Priscilla, Rachael, Lee, David and Paul.
Walter’s work took the family across the country, from Los Angeles to Florida, as he worked with defense contractors and at NASA in Cape Canaveral, Florida, finally settling in Houston, Texas working for Brown and Root Construction Co.
Walter was always a uniquely loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather of 12 and great grandfather of 14. The center of a large and boisterous family, he was fun loving, ever helpful, and gifted with a joyful sense of humor that enriched the lives of all who knew him. Walter was a humble Christian, wonderful father, Boy Scout leader, avid golfer and a friend to many. He will be greatly missed on this Earth and deeply mourned by a large and grateful family.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 10-11 AM with funeral services beginning at 11 AM in the Grand Chapel of Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Interment will follow with Navy Honors at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

We have the greatest respect for Mr. Kidd. His service for our Country and strong Family are very admirable. I had a long distance connection with Mr. Kidd from our bond working for Brown and Root.
May God Bless Mr. Kidd and his entire family.

This life is just a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road,
towards sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but we were never meant to stay...
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey's quicker,
For some the journey's slow.
And when our journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward,
And find that everlasting peace,
In Heaven with our LORD
We will greatly miss you in our lives.
