Ruby Maud Davy Garvey, age 88, of Tomball, Texas, died peacefully at Kindred Hospital in Tomball on Saturday, August 25, 2018 following a courageous health battle. Ruby was born in Bocas del Toro, Republic of Panamá on August 1, 1930. She was the loving daughter of Celeste Maud Daly and Henry Davy.

Ruby met and married, Clifford Duncan Garvey in 1958, who preceded her in death on May 15, 2016. To this union, Clifford D. Garvey Jr., Flavia Q. Garvey, and Margot B. Garvey, were born. Until illness prevented her from regularly attending church, Ruby was a faithful member of the Spring Creek Seventh Day Adventist Church. Ruby was devoted to her family, loved to cook, sew, and bake. For those who knew her well, no one could cook like her. She also had a fascination with international travel and visited many countries in Europe, the Middle East, South Pacific, Central America and the provinces of Canada.

After immigrating to the United States in 1965 to find a better future for her family, Ruby was employed as a caregiver in New York. Later, she began a long career on the New York Stock Exchange with Citibank. She retired in 1991 after 21 years of service. In 1992, Ruby and her husband Clifford relocated to Humble, Texas and then to Tomball, Texas in 2005.

Ruby leaves to celebrate her life, a son Clifford D. Garvey Jr. and wife Xiomara Garvey of Del City Oklahoma, daughters Margot B. Garvey Preyer of Houston, Texas, Beverly Patricia Barber of San Antonio, Texas, Eloisa Brown of Columbus, Georgia, brother Joseph Davy as well as many grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Ruby was preceded in rest by her parents Henry Davy and Celeste Davy and siblings to that union, brothers Sidney Davy, Walton Davy, Ralph Davy, Ivan Davy, and sisters Icey Davy, Ivey Davy, Hazel Henry, and Edna Adams, and her daughter Flavia Q. Garvey Elmore.

Dear Margot and family,
I was so deeply saddened and shocked to hear of your mother’s passing. I extend my deepest sympathy to you and our family at this sad and difficult time.

I know that you and your mother were very close and that her passing will be very hard for you. I'm sure that you are thankful for the many wonderful years you had together. Mrs. Garvey was a very special lady. She always managed a beautiful smile even when, I'm sure, she was not feeling her best. She was a joy to be around. I have fond memories of your mother. I will always remember our long conversations every time we met at family events. She had so many interesting and delightful stories about she and Mr. Garvey, her children growing up, and her family. I enjoyed the time we had together.

I know that this will be a difficult time for you. I will be there to help you, my nieces Betinne and Brelain; and nephew William, get through this challenging time. ❀️

My thoughts and prayers are with you and our family.
With sympathy, πŸ™πŸ½
Margaret
