Kunjamma Kunjachan was born in Kottarakara, India on January 15, 1927. She was the second oldest child born to the late Koshy Kunchandy and late Mariamma Kunchandy in Ayroor House, Kottarakara. She had five brothers and three sisters.
Kunjamma Kunjachan was married to the late Kunjachan Vaidyan in 1946. She lived in Kaithacode, Kerala where she raised her five children. In 1981, she immigrated to the United States to begin her life in Philadelphia. As a faithful member of Bethel Mar Thoma Church, she was able to continue her strong faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ammachi was best described to be kind, caring and loving especially to her family.
Ammachi’s joy was infectious to the family as she cherished telling stories and ensuring everyone was just as happy as her. With her sense of humor and sarcasm, family events were far from being dull. Her strength was defined by her resilency in difficult times and she was able to use her faith to persevere. As the heart and soul of our family, her smile would always lift our spirits and she will be missed.
She is survived by her children: Mariamma John, Cheriyan Kunjachan, Varghese Kunjachan, Omana Solomon, Sabu Kunjachan and their spouses Koshy P. John, Jainamma Cheriyan, Marykutty Varghese, Lukose Solomon, and Rajam Sabu; her grandchildren: Reuben, Shirley, Sheena, Joseph, Reena, Sonia, Simi, David, Sam, Sarah and Sandra; her great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Christopher, Brandon, Naomi, and Abigail; her siblings and families: John Kunchandy, Abraham Kunchandy, Philip Kunchandy, Kuryan Kunchandy, and Aleyamma Philip.
