

Rev. Raymond Waldfogel, 85 of Huntington passed away at 5:52 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Heritage Pointe in Warren. He was a member of College Park United Brethren Church where he served as pastor of congregational care for 12 years. He was a long-time member of the National Association of Evangelicals. Rev. Waldfogel served as a chaplain at Parkview Huntington Hospital for 12 years; and as chaplain for Parkview Huntington Home Health care and Hospice for 5 years. For many years, Raymond served on the Huntington College Board of Trustees.
He received his Quarterly Conference Ministerial License in 1945; his Annual Conference Ministerial License in 1949; and became an ordained elder of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ in 1956. Rev. Waldfogel pastored several United Brethren congregations including Olive Branch UB Church in Lakeville, IN; Union Chapel and South Scipio UB Churches in Allen County, IN; Stryker UB Church in Stryker, OH; Harvest Lane UB Church (1965 – 1969 and again from 1981 – 1988) in Toledo, OH and Hopewell UB Church in Auburn, IN. Rev. Waldfogel was elected to serve as bishop of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ from 1969 -1981.
Raymond was a 1943 graduate of Pettisville (OH) High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Huntington College in 1950 and later earned his Bachelor of Divinity degree from the Huntington College Seminary in 1956. He was presented with the honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Huntington College in 1972.
He was born on April 27, 1926 in Fulton County, Ohio, a son of Fred and Bertha (Bates) Waldfogel.
He was united in marriage to Wardena M. Behrens on August 9, 1945 in Claytonville, Illinois.
Survivors include his wife Wardena M. Waldfogel of Huntington; three sons: John F. (Bonita) Waldfogel of Erie, MI; Thomas L. (Patti) Waldfogel of Fort Wayne; Douglas J. (Marta) Waldfogel of Huntington; a daughter: Susan E. (Thomas) Stong of Huntington; a daughter-in-law: Judy Waldfogel of Miamisburg, OH; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son: James D. Waldfogel and two brothers: Lavern Waldfogel and Roy Waldfogel.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at College Park United Brethren Church, 1945 College Ave., Huntington with Pastor Gary Dilley and Rev. Ron Ramsey officiating.
Interment will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
