Known to most as Jimmy, eldest child Jaime Arcebuche was born in Catarman, Northern Samar Philippines to Gaudencio deLeon Arcebuche and Ana Estremera Arcebuche. He studied Farm Mechanics at the University of Eastern Philippines. He attended FEATI University and majored in Mechanical Engineering.
He took a position with Manila based engineering company, USIPHIL, Inc. Using this experience, he started his own company, Capricorn Power Components.
He was elected as a councilman for a local district in Manila. He served as a technical consultant for the provincial government of Norther Samar. He was also elected as a regent for the University of Eastern Philippines.
He was raised as a Master Mason at Service Lodge No. 95 of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of the Philippines. He served as a District Deputy Grand Master. He became a 33rd Degree IGH Mason and was elected to join the Knight York Cross of Honor. He started the Maharlika Shrine Oasis, one of the first Shriners associations in the Philippines. Other than his love for the craft, he belonged to several social and civic associations particularly getting involved with groups associated with his hometown of Catarman. He was also an active member of Toastmasters International in the Philippines.
He dabbled in writing publishing several articles on local trade journals. A practitioner of Indonesian based healing art, Tetada Kalimasada, he wrote a self-help book called Light Aerobics Exercises for Seniors and the Lazy Man.
He enjoyed reading, playing scrabble and an occasional game of chess. A self-taught musician, he played the piano and the guitar. He enjoyed singing ballads and crooner music.
He left the Philippines in 2002 to join his children in the United States.
With an engaging, personable, and steady personality, he was nicknamed “Bamboo” by his closest circle of friends. Because of his generous and helpful nature, he was known as “Mano Jaime” or Big Brother Jaime with most of his contemporaries in his hometown of Catarman. Even at times of limited resources, his benevolence helped plenty of less fortunate relatives and friends achieve their dreams of studying in colleges, universities, and trade schools. He was happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren. He loved teaching them English and Tagalog nursery rhymes. He cleverly stated that “Grandkids are your return on investments.”
He is survived by his brother Alfredo and sister Nida. He is also survived by his children, Lani, Arlene, Michael, Jeffrey, Christina and Vincent; in-laws, Poco, Gines, Odette and Brenna; grandchildren, RD, Phoebe, Justin, Alexa, Ariana, Hannah, Lindsey, Drake, Jairus, N’Cole, Talon, Lilah and Sophia. He was also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his son James and former wife Rosalinda. He was also predeceased by his brothers Henry, Terry, Danny and Oscar and sister Dolores.
Baptized and raised Roman Catholic, he affirmed his acceptance of Jesus Christ as his personal savior in his final days at Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
