Nicholas J. Anestis, 92, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2019. A lifelong resident of Hyannis, MA, he was born in Watertown, MA on March 3, 1927. Nick was the son of the late James J. Anestis and Irene Demetras Anestis Davis.
Nick was a hardworking, kind, gentle compassionate man who loved family, listening to music, conversing about current events, Cape Cod and family history. He spent many years traveling the world as a merchant marine. All of his nieces and nephews are thankful, grateful and blessed to have had such a wonderful uncle in their lives.
He leaves behind his loving nieces and nephews, Cynthia Testo ( Carl) of North Haven, CT, Peter Anestis ( Lee) of York, Maine, Melissa Anestis ( Keith Andrews) of Florida and MA, niece-in-law Joyce Anestis ( Gill Davidson) of North Palm Beach, FL, 9 great and 11 great-great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather James Davis, sister Seva Anestis, brother John Anestis, nephew James Anestis and a great nephew Johnny Anestis.
A wake will be held on August 21, 2019 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1130 Falmouth Road, Centerville, MA 02632, from 10:30-11:30 am. A funeral service will follow. Interment will be at Beechwood Cemetery, Centerville, MA. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Nick’s memory to St. George Greek Orthodox Church or to a charity of your choice.
