He was the fifth child of eight children, three sisters and four brothers.
Ronnie was educated in Indianapolis Public Schools and attended Howe High school and IUPUI in Indianapolis where he played basketball under coach, Mel Gardner.
He also served his country in the United States Army.
Ronnie grew up in the Irvington area and enjoyed playing sports (basketball and softball) with his family and friends. His basketball skills were known throughout the city and he was affectionately known as “Feet”. He loved sports and enjoyed watching the Pacers, Colts and the New York Yankees.
Ronnie also had a love of music including: Jazz, R&B and Gospel. He also enjoyed family gatherings where he would show off his grilling skills (with a towel draped across his shoulder).
Ronnie was united in marriage to Mary Valentine on February 20, 2003. During their union they united a blended family including Mary’s two sons and Ronnie’s three children.
Ronnie worked for many years as a Pharmacy Procurement Technician at VA Hospital.
In 1998 he was called to preach the word of God and was ordained a minister in April of 2000 at Irvington First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Adaway. He was ordained an Elder in the C.O.G.I.C. in July of 2010. Ronnie considered his call to ministry his greatest accomplishment.
In 2010 he joined Indiana Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Associate Minster, under the leadership of, Pastor Lennell Jordan, also Education Director, Evangelical and Missionary leader in addition to teaching bible study and Sunday school.
Ronnie LOVED the Lord and serving in ministry was his greatest joy. He had many favorite scriptures that he would reference such as Jeremiah 29:11. Ronnie knew that God’s purpose for his life was to bring people to Christ and to help them know and understand the word of God.
He continued his own studies at Central Baptist Theological Seminary in 2008.
Ronald Elvee Hardin departed life on March 28, 2020 at VA Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Irene Hardin; brothers: James and Jefferie Hardin; sister, Wanda Hardin.
He leaves cherished memories to his wife, Mary Hardin; his daughters: Rolanda and Rhonda Hardin; his son, James (Jasmine) Hardin; his stepsons: Richard Valentine (Kisha), Joshua Humphrey brothers: Claude (Jackie) Hardin, Nathaniel (Adonis) Hardin; sisters: Sharon Rush and Marsha (Joe) Rush; 12 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends,
