Phyllis "The Cake Lady" Jean Hueston, 82, of Indianapolis, Indiana went home to the Lord on Saturday, January 16, 2021. Phyllis was born April 25, 1938 in Anderson, IN to the late Bernice (Fulton) and Lawrence Shipley.
Phyllis married Frederick "Red" Hueston, and they had a blended family with 4 children total.
She earned her nickname, "The Cake/Candy Lady", for her love of baking. She had the work locker that everyone wanted to stop at, and she never went a day without bringing some type of treat in for her "grandkids" aka her coworkers. She's most remembered for her carrot cake. She was known for always taking care of others, and she loved to document her interactions by always taking pictures.
Phyllis had many hobbies, she always made sure to stay busy. She loved to crochet, always making blankets and doilies. Her kids even have crocheted Christmas stockings, which Christmas happened to be her favorite holiday.
She had pride in her home, making sure it was always clean. Her kids knew to never let a fly in, just because there was a chance of her windows getting dirty. She was a hard worker, even in her 60's she was on top of a roof with her son getting work done.
Phyllis is survived by her children; William "Bill" Fox (Brenda), Teresa McMillen, and Ray Hueston, her siblings; Larry Shipley, Mary Spaulding, and Debbie Watson, grandchildren; Jason Fox, Teri Fox, April Lafollette Stewart, Philip Bowman, Gabrielle Hueston, and Brandon Hueston. She also leaves behind 6 great-grandchildren; Caidyn, Levi, Ranger, Ryker, Ayla, and Cody.
In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by one sister; Patty Pennington.
