Rhea Eugene McGee

Rhea E. McGee passed away peacefully Tuesday November 11, 2025 at the age of 94. He was born in Indianapolis, IN to William and Lillie McGee on February 8, 1931. He was a proud Army veteran who served in the Korean War. After his army service he became a police officer for the city of Indianapolis and retired as a Lieutenant. He worked for the State of Indiana as an investigator for tax fraud before finally retiring from long years of work.

Rhea was preceded in death by his wife Jackie McGee, his first wife, Donna McGee, parents William and Lillie McGee, siblings: Era Bell McGee, William McGee, Phillip McGee, Joseph McGee, and his grandson, Eric Gerbers.

He is survived by his children/stepchildren William McGee (Myong), Bruce Buckner (Becky), Terry McGee (Martha}, LeAnn Brown (Garry), Gerri Carter (Robert), Tracy Gerbers (Jeff), Joe McGee (Mary Beth), and Rhonda Schmit (Jay), and many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rhea truly loved and enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren in his final years.

A visitation for family and close friends will be held from 11:30AM-12:00 PM on Tuesday, November 18th at Crown Hill Funeral Home-Gothic Chapel followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

If desired, memorials may be made to Rosie’s Southside Animal Shelter or a charity of choice.
