Sandra Isabel MacEachern, age 69, passed away peacefully, reunited with her infant son, Stephen, May 6th, 2020. She was born on March 22,1951 in Inverness, Cape Breton.

She was a daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (MacKinnon) Gillis (of South West Margaree).

Sandra married her lifelong love, Angus Alexander MacEachern, July 15th,1972 and raised the family that was her pride and joy for the following 48 years of marriage together.

She was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Sandra had a heart of gold matched only by her beautiful smile and quick wit. She enjoyed gatherings no matter the number or age. Sandra loved music and dancing, was full of spirit and laughter and was a true pleasure to be around.

For many years Sandra worked in the kitchen at the Inverness Hospital, putting her heart and soul into every meal she made, meals that are still spoken of today.

No stranger to obstacles and sorrow, Sandra’s faith and perseverance allowed her to rise above these things with grace and humility. Caring for others was a gift that came so naturally to her.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Angus; son, Conway (Darlene); daughters, Tenely (Joel), and Caroline (Chad); siblings, Donald (Florence) and Jimmy; sisters, Lorraine, Ann and Margaret; grandchildren, Lauren, Ava, Blake, Noah and Carmin, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sandra was such a wonderful person, a beautiful lady with a beautiful smile. She had a great sense of humour, and I loved hearing her laugh. We spent many nights listening and singing to her favourite artist Conway Twitty. Sandra loved deeply, and it was evident when she talked about her family. Daily visits from Angus and Caroline were the highlight of her day, as her face would just light up when she saw them. Her tender heart showed real compassion and kindness for others so many times. During a short period of time Sandra and I became friends. I would jokingly say that we were partners in crime, and this would elicit a big laugh from her. I think of her often and will miss her always. A beautiful soul gone too soon. God bless and keep you Sandra. Love always Edith Murray

My sincere condolences to Sandra's family.
It is not without sadness that I read of Sandra's death.
She was my dad, Donald Tompkins, first cousin and therefore closely related. (Her aunt Bell was married to my paternal grandfather Dave.) Over the years I thought about Sandra. She often was a sitter for me and other cousins.
I recall her wit, sense of humor , and wonder how she put up with us. Sadly, we were not to meet again following those childhood years.
My deepest sympathy to all those who mourn her death. She will be remembered at a Mass here in my SCJ residence of priests and brothers.
God bless her family always.
RIP Sandra
May the Lord embrace you.

Aunt Sandra was special in so many ways . I’ll always remember how much fun it was to be around.her.She was the type of person you would want to invite to parties because her good cheer was contagious . Being a Gillis she of course had that wicked sense of humour but boy oh boy could she sing. ! One day we went to the Hoff together for Happy Hour .I. was only 17 at the time Aunt Sandra was cool with it and promised me that she wouldn’t breathe a word to Donald Joseph. When we got there she was marched onto the stage and sang “Coat of Many Colours “ by Dolly Parton. She made Dolly sound like an amateur. I know that some day I will hear her play it again. I love and miss you Aunt Sandra❤️

It was pure joy to have Sandra as an aunt. There are so many heartwarming memories of the old house on River Street and her amazing food and most of all, Sandra's love of family and friends. Sandra, this mother's day, I'm certain you're reunited in heaven with our beautiful cousin Stephen. You are in my thoughts Angus, Conway, Tenely, and Caroline. Blake, Ava, Lauren, Carmin, and Noah, you had a wonderful grandmother who will be dearly missed. Love to you all,
