Charles Ray Heacox arrived at the heavenly family reunion on Thursday, January 31, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2013, in the chapel of Dutton Funeral Home, with Rev. Glen Pearce of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery with full Military Rites under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Charles was born March 27, 1925 in Linton, Indiana to Edwin and Fannie Heacox. He enlisted in the Army in 1943 and re-enlisted in the Air Force in 1946. He proudly served his country in WWII at New Guinea, the Berlin Airlift, Korean Conflict, and retired in 1965. After retirement, he worked at Tullis Motors but missed the military life and returned to a civil service position with the Motor Pool at Sheppard AFB for several years. He retired again and began enjoying his main hobby golf.
Charles was a sportsman. He was Missouri State Golden Glove Champion in his early years. He loved fast pitch softball and played with the Hahn AFB in Germany and went to the Air Force European Championship. His passion was golf. He learned the game by being a caddie at the course in Sikeston, Missouri. He continued to develop his game and it was his home away from home. He helped design and construct the golf course at Sheppard AFB. He won numerous tournaments and was proud of his two hole-in-ones.
He and the love of his life, Bobbie, were members of First Baptist Church of Iowa Park. They enjoyed serving the Lord through Builders for Christ and helped build churches in Colorado and Arkansas.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bobbie, twins Danny and Diane, three brothers, Eual, Danny and Sonny, three sisters, Imogene, Della Mae and Mary. He is survived by his daughter Barbara Price and husband, Jim; his son Charles Heacox and wife, Nancy, four grandchildren, Jeff Price and wife Kathleen, Jana Price, Charles Heacox and wife Crystal, and Steven Heacox, and five great-grandchildren, Haley and Zane Price, Nevaeh, Kaydence and Charles Riley Heacox.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday February 3, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Dutton Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to Friendly Door Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels or First Baptist Church of Iowa Park.

I am so sorry for your loss of Charlie. He was a good man and always made me laugh. He and Danny and my dad had a lot of fun together once they found each other again. And through them, we got to know each other. I will pray for Charlie to have a safe and peaceful journey to the after-life and for your sorrows to be lifted a bit by all the fond memories you have of Charlie. He had a long and good life.
