

Rex Doyle Pirtle, age 83, was called home to the Lord on January 3, 2020 in Irving, Texas. He was born on November 27, 1936, in Payne Springs, Texas, to Hallie and Alfred Pirtle. Rex was raised in Levelland, Texas and graduated from Levelland High School. After graduation, he attended college for one year before heading to work in the oil fields in Pablo, Colorado.
Rex was a veteran of the United States Army after being drafted. He proudly served his country for three years. After serving in the Army, Rex went to work for Calvert Fire Insurance Company in Lubbock, Texas, where he met his future wife, Patsy Rekieta, of Paducah, Texas. He transferred to El Paso, Texas, where he married Patsy on August 1, 1964. Rex was transferred to the Dallas area where the couple raised two children, in Irving, Texas. He pursued his life-long, successful career with Allstate Insurance Company, until he retired at the age of 60.
One of Rex’s favorite pastimes was going to the lake with his family and friends. He loved teaching his children and friends how to water ski. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and watching his children play sports. After he retired, he purchased a ranch near Austin, Texas, and raised cattle.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Betty, and his brother, Jimmy. He is survived by his son, Bradley Rex Pirtle, of Arlington, Texas, his daughter, Stacey Lynn Pirtle Bassinger, of Irving, Texas, and 5 beautiful grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be January 18, 2020 at 1 P.M. at Gospel City Church, 2221 W. Park Row Dr.
