Born on November 3, 1925 to Bob and Margaret Fondren Striger in the Fondren community of Jackson, Mississippi, Margaret grew up surrounded by an incredibly loving and close-knit family. Margaret graduated from Tupelo High School in 1943 and attended MSCW with her twin sister, Marion and a host of wonderful friends. She later graduated from Belhaven College and the University of Mississippi Medical Center as a medical technician. She worked for a clinic while living with her grandparents in their home on North State Street. It was during this time that she met and married a dashing young lawyer, Dale McKibben. Margaret and Dale celebrated their 50th anniversary shortly before his death in 2001. Later in life, with much love and attention to give, she met Ike P. LaRue, Jr. The two immediately bonded and were married. They spent two happy years together before his passing.
Margaret was an active member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, the DAR and the Hobby Club. But first and foremost, Margaret was a dedicated mother who treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandmama. She had a vivacious personality and always made people laugh. She made friends everywhere she went and endeared herself to those around her, right up to the very end.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, her twin sister, Marion Striger Tarver, her sister-in-law, Claudine McKibben, her husbands, Dale McKibben and Ike P. LaRue, Jr. She is survived by her children, Rob McKibben (Theresa), Birmingham, Al., Julie Jumper (Mike), Athens, Texas, Doug McKibben (Lou Ann), Jackson, Ms., Chuck McKibben (Erin), Nashville. Tn. , grandchildren Caroline McKibben Upchurch, Jordan McKibben Mason, Megan McKibben, Ryan McKibben, Joseph McKibben and Margaret McKibben Leachman, six great grandchildren and her greatly loved nieces and nephew and Fondren cousins.
We know she is celebrating a big Fondren reunion in heaven.
